The Head Start Bilingual Glossary provides a searchable database of terms for rendering Head Start translations from English into Spanish or vice versa. Staff in Head Start programs will find this a helpful tool, as will translators at the Head Start Information and Communications Center.
The Spanish language is very rich and varied. It is always a challenge to find neutral terms that most Spanish speakers in the United States understand; therefore, in some cases, several terms are included in the same entry.
We hope that, in addition to bringing improved consistency, this Glossary will increase the overall understanding about Head Start in the broader early childhood community.
We encourage you to share this reference tool widely, along with the Style Guide for Translations into Spanish. To find a term easily, simply enter it in the search box below.
